Only members of NZIPP Affiliate and Accredited members, and members of the same level at reciprocal rights organisations can accrue merit points.

Only NZIPP Accredited members, and Accredited members of reciprocal rights organisations can earn NZIPP Distinctions. 

There is no longer a limit on the number of entries you can enter but only the TEN highest-scoring images will count towards NZIPP Honours Distinctions for those who are eligible to earn Distinction points.

Members must be fully financial at the time of entering, and at the time of the awards to be awarded NZIPP Distinctions.

Merit points are recorded each year in order of award value (ie. Gold, Silver then Bronze). These merit points are carried forward to the next year.

A maximum of 5 points can be accrued by an Affiliated member before they become Accredited.

Merit points are not given for an award if the new total would exceed your 5 point limit. Example: if you already have 4 merit points accrued from previous years and this year you receive one gold award (worth 2 points) and one bronze award (worth 0.5 points), the gold does NOT get added to your points, as it would make your new total 6, but the bronze does. Your now have 4.5 merit points which are carried forward to next year.

Only awards that have contributed towards your 5 point limit before becoming Accredited are counted towards your NZIPP distinctions. In the above example, the gold would not count towards your NZIPP distinction, so to become a Master of Photography with Distinction you would need to be awarded a further gold medal after you are accredited, along with the other award requirements.

The moral of the story –  don’t hesitate getting accredited so that all awarded images get counted towards your future distinctions.
