2024 GLOBAL RULES

ALL ENTRIES MUST COMPLY WITH THE GLOBAL RULES OF THE 2024 NZIPP IRIS AWARDS:

 

THIS SHOULD BE READ IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS ON PAGES 44-46 of the Call For Entries Document.

The Global Rules apply to EVERY ENTRY.
These are to be read in conjunction with the Category-specific Rules and the Terms and Conditions also contained in this document.
1. All elements and content must be 100% photographic and be the work of the entrant including textures, brushes, borders, overlays or lines. For the avoidance of doubt, no element in the entry can be computer generated including any element created by Artificial Intelligence (AI).
2. 100% of the post-production work must be the work of the entrant.
3. All elements must have been photographed after 1st January 2019.
4. Photographs produced under any form of direct guidance during a full time or part time photography course are not eligible into any of the main categories but can be entered in the Student Category.
5. Completely self-directed work produced while enrolled during full-time or part time photography study, is eligible for entry into the main categories, but only if it is created in the entrant’s own time and with no direct guidance.
6. Third party physical backdrops are permitted.
7. An entry into any category may be presented as a series, such as diptychs, triptychs etc.
8. While the same subject may be used across multiple entries in a single year, your entries must be unique and distinct from each other both visually and conceptually. The subject must not be recognisable as being in the same location, moment in time or depicted similarly.

9. By entering these awards you agree that you own the copyright to the image or have the consent of the copyright holders (if you don’t own it) and have consent for the image to be used and published as described in the Terms and Conditions.

The following EXCLUSIONS apply:
• Images captured and retouched over the duration of a workshop, tutorial, or similar event are ineligible for entry. The rule applies to attendees only and not instructors.
• Third-Party digital backdrops, textures, brushes or other elements.
• Computer generated images or elements e.g. where the computer renders an element such as a person, landscape, sky or other item that the camera did not capture) including neural filters.)
• Images or elements created using artificial intelligence software.
• Entries previously entered into the Iris Awards.

As the entrant you acknowledge and understand that
• As an NZIPP member, or member of a reciprocal rights organisation, you must be up to date with membership payments at the time of online entry and at the time of judging to qualify for member entry rates. Entries received by non-financial members or non-members will not be judged unless entered and paid for at non- member rates.

• Entries will be judged in accordance with the judging criteria. Refer to pages 8,9 and 13 of the Call for Entries Document for further information.
• Any concerns, comments or complaints on any Iris Awards matter must be directed immediately to the NZIPP Honours Council via the online complaints form.
• Any decision of the Honours Council is final.
